Other Therapies for Events
Reiki
Reiki is a hands-on therapy developed in Japan. The word 'Reiki' means 'universal life energy'. The therapist uses the life energy that is all around us, and within all living things, to restore harmony and balance to the body, by reconnecting the body to the flow of universal energy.
During a treatment the patient lies on a massage table and the practitioner lays both hands on the patient in a series of positions. The therapist determines those parts of the body sensed to be emitting weak energy.
By laying his or her hands on these areas they act as a channel to enable energy to flow to the patient, restoring balance and harmony.
For "events" Reiki is performed on a massage table, no oils or other mediums are used, the client remains fully clothed.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a technique for promoting the body's own healing response by stimulating the nerve endings in the feet.
Injuries and illnesses can disrupt the energy flow in the body. Reflexology can be use to restore the bodies equilibrium, unblocking energy pathways. Many nerve endings are found in the feet. These nerve endings travel to the spinal cord and other parts of the body, including vital organs and glands.
During a Reflexology treatment, gentle pressure is applied to these nerve endings (reflex points) in the feet, each of which corresponds to a particular part of the body. By stimulating these reflex points, the practitioner triggers physiological changes in the body promoting health, relaxation, circulation, lymphatic flow and energy movement in the nervous system and vital organs of the body.
For "events" Reflexology is performed on either a massage table or a reflexology chair, talcum or some similar medium is used, the client is required to bare their feet.
Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage originates from the traditional methods that Indian women used to use to groom themselves, it's developed over the years to become a way to help people relax, feel rejuvenated and more aware of their bodies.
Massaging the head can do much to relieve the stress and tension that fill our day to day lives. The technique involves controlled caresses such as the spider walk, root pull, and comb, and focuses mainly on the face and scalp. It can also continue down the upper back, neck, shoulders and upper arms.
The massage has a strong effect on the three higher chakras of mind, body and spirit. Chakra (wheel) is the energy vortex that we need to remain striving. As the massage works on the shoulders and neck, the relief of tension is felt almost instantaneously.
For "events" Indian Head Massage is performed on an on-site massage chair, no oils or other meduims are used, the client remains fully clothed.
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic Massage can be defined as the systematic and manual manipulation of the body's soft tissue for therapeutic purposes promoting health and well-being.
Massage Direct utilises the technique known as Swedish Massage. This consists of five basic strokes: effleurage (stroking), petrissage (kneading), friction, tapotement (percussion), and vibration, though all of these strokes are not used on every part of the body.
In general, the manipulation of the body's soft tissue (i.e. the skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and facia) using the hands is a gentle, flowing massage technique that uses varying degrees of pressure and stretching movements. It is most commonly used for relaxation and improving well-being.
For "events" Therapeutic Massage is performed on an ordinary chair and is confined to the head, neck, shoulders, face and hands, no oils or other mediums are used and the client remains fully clothed.
